Your advantages: You create trust with all decision-makers with your know-how

As you are probably aware, every professional club now employs one or more people who are responsible for the area of analysis.

However, it is only over the past few years that a clear job description has developed. Advanced training opportunities now existed for all persons with expertise of a coaching team, except for the game analyzing person. For this reason, we launched the first training program for match analysts in soccer in 2015, have been running the program annually since then and are now looking in detail at the increasingly important data analysis in professional soccer. Excellent speakers guarantee a program at the highest level.

In addition to data analysis, you will deal intensively with the scientific fundamentals of match analysis, video technology, match preparation and follow-up, soccer theory and scouting, and much more.

You will acquire know-how specifically geared towards professional soccer, which is of great importance for the entire sporting sector and thus creates confidence among all decision-makers in the club or association. Furthermore, match analysts now work directly with soccer players and therefore have an influence on the technical and tactical development of each individual.

TARGET GROUP OF THE CAS “GAME ANALYST IN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL”

The CAS is a Germany-wide training and further education program and is aimed at employees from professional soccer who are already working as game analysts or in scouting.
For coaches and co-trainers from professional soccer, too, the content taught represents an enormous added value, because it expands their own competencies in an important decision-making field and further develops their analytical skills.

The experience also benefits active and former professional soccer players who want to put their practical knowledge into practice and possibly pursue a future career in the soccer industry.

The profession of match analyst has become an integral part of professional soccer. Match analysts play a central role not only in squad planning and opponent scouting, but also in the development of a team’s tactics and in soccer strategy research.

When it comes to the back four, positional play, movement play, counter-pressing, interface passes, changing sides, player transfers, passing patterns, game formations and game systems, they are in demand.

Prerequisites for participation in the CAS are a university entrance qualification or completed vocational training in a recognized profession that is conducive to the course, at least three years of professional experience that is conducive to the course, a keen interest in soccer and match analysis and experience in professional soccer.

Applicants without a university entrance qualification but with a professional qualification can also be admitted to the CAS under certain conditions. In these cases, an institute certificate is issued instead of a CAS certificate with ECTS points.

EXPERIENCE REPORTS & GRADUATES’ VOICES

“I consider it absolutely sensible to continue my education in the increasingly complex topics of match analysis and scouting in a scientifically sound manner. The practical relevance and the quality of the lecturers, who are among the top experts in the industry, are two essential aspects that made me choose this certificate.”

„For all those who are hungry for further development and interested in game analysis, I can only say – definitely do it! It’s a top education that is guaranteed to take you further.”

„Der Mix aus wissenschaftlich fundierten Fakten der Fußballforschung und praxisbezogenen Erfahrungen fachlich kompetenter Referenten vermittelte einen sehr guten Einblick in das spannende Aufgabenfeld eines Spielanalysten. Mit den gewonnen Erkenntnissen werde ich nun innovativ die Bedingungen schaffen, um den Fußball weiterentwickeln zu können.“

“One of the most important points for me that led me to register here was, above all, the area of quantitative game analysis. Of course, this is an area that is constantly growing and offers many new possibilities. More and more is being added, it is important to keep up to date and here you have a great opportunity to learn from experts about the latest trends, the best methods and the most current working methods and possibilities. That was my main motivation. That was completely fulfilled and I am very happy with the result.”

“The areas of match analysis, scouting and squad planning are not only becoming increasingly important in professional football, but also more and more complex. That’s why a scientifically sound continuing education programme is immensely important for me in order to be best prepared for the growing demands in these areas. In this respect, the IFI, together with the lecturers, has succeeded in implementing a course designed as a face-to-face event in the virtual space without any noticeable loss of quality.”

“The job as a head coach in the youth sector of a professional team is becoming more extensive and more challenging every year. Moreover, it is simply a dream and an opportunity at the same time to be allowed to work in this field. For me, it is therefore essential to remain constantly innovative as a coach and to be able to inspire people. Especially the topic of match analysis – match and opponent preparation, as well as match follow-up – has become extremely important in recent years. A very time-consuming topic in the regular weekly planning for a trainer. Once again, the IFI succeeded in providing the participants with important knowledge in a very practical way and in equipping the coaches and/or analysts with the crucial tools to be able to further develop a team in the field of match analysis week after week.

I was able to benefit from the content I learned in a very short time in my self-employment at the Munich Football School and as head coach at the youth secor of 1860 München and have been able to apply it in practice ever since.

Moreover, it is a privilege to be able to exchange ideas with professionals in football. That is simply elementarily important for me to constantly move one step further. Here, too, the IFI creates an ideal basis and platform.”

“With the certificate Match Analyst in Professional Football, the IFI manages to combine fundamental scientific background with state-of-the-art practical match analysis and to convey it in the course. In addition, the exchange with the diverse field of participants and the lectures by the outstanding lecturers make it a very good opportunity for further education in the increasingly complex field of match analysis.”

YOUR LEARNING IN THE CAS “GAME ANALYST IN PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL”

Those who go through the CAS recognize the necessity of modern game and tactical analysis in order to optimally prepare their own team for the opponent as well as to analyze their own game.
The program also underpins the fact that there are clear roles and responsibilities within the club and that this re-quires the appropriate knowledge and skills, which participants can acquire in this program in a theoretically sound but practical manner.
The content is taught exclusively by top people with expertise.

The CAS specifically addresses the requirements, challenges and individual solutions for active and prospective match analysts in professional football. Starting from scientific basics and data analysis in soccer, the participants deal intensively with video analysis, individual and group tactics as well as scouting and squad planning in the individual modules.

Modul 1: Football Analytics & Technology

The Football Analytics & Technology module initially deals with the categorisation of match analysis in the context of training science.

Various training science models and methods are explained and the immediate practical adaptation and feasibility are discussed.

In this topic area, participants learn the difference between quantitative and qualitative match analysis, how to recognise and define key performance indicators in football and how these can be mapped automatically using event and position data. In addition, participants in this module will gain a deep insight into market-relevant hardware and software solutions based on a workflow in match analysis.

Starting with the selection of the optimal equipment, through practical tips on the best possible creation of scouting feeds, various software tools for editing video material, to animations in the moving image, such as perspective changes through camera flights, the participants learn the tools for creating high-quality match analyses.

MODUL 2: QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS & MATCHPLAN TRAINING

In addition to the basics of tactical and technical assessment of match situations in match and tactical analysis, the module focuses on current trends and special features in a national and international context.

Modern game principles and game systems are discussed, which broaden the horizon for abstract but application-orientated game analysis.

Detailed aspects are thematised and discussed on the basis of a structured differentiation in play against and with the ball, in the respective transition phases and in standard situations. In addition to the data-based approach in the first module, the analyses in this module are implemented using the qualitative analysis method.

Based on the technically sound findings from the self-analysis and opponent analysis, the participants learn to identify core elements for the training week in a subsequent step. A key focus of the module is on developing skills in the area of practical training implementation. This is an essential process step in order to be able to transfer the solutions developed in football theory to the players in blueprints and adapt them if necessary.

Modul 3: High Performance Workflows

In this module, leading analysts with expertise from top national and international clubs provide an in-depth insight into their working methods.

These workflows are enriched by informative field reports, which point out challenges and potentials in the daily work.

Game preparation, including the observation of opponents, live and half-time analyses as well as post-match follow-up are the main topics of the course content. Participants learn how to fundamentally analyse opponents, important aspects of live/half-time analysis and recommendations for evaluating the match plan.

In connection with the content-related work of the analysts, this module also deals with the direct interface between match analysis and squad planning.

Based on sporting needs analyses of the own squad in a team, group and individual tactical/technical context, position-specific parameters are defined which are directly relevant for scouting activities. In addition to the sporting demands on individual players, scouting management is an important part of the training programme. Participants learn, among other things, how to efficiently organise the structure and processes of scouting departments and how to use different software solutions to document and coordinate scouting activities.
